MEET THE ARTIST: johnMATTINGLY

I began my freelance career at fifteen, creating a logo for a pizza store in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and have been designing ever since. A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, I have been teaching graphic design at a high school in Frederick County for over 25 years. To see my students' artwork, including the jaw-dropping Hall of Fame, please visit the official Middletown High School graphic design website at http://mhscomputergraphics.com.
I also served as adviser of the school's yearbook, which won several national awards and distinctions. Retired from advising now, I still enjoy lecturing and teaching at various scholastic journalism conferences around the country.
I've been an artist my entire life and nothing fascinates me more than graphic design. I love creating visual works that exploit the elements of art and principles of design in ways that not only grab the brain's attention, but makes it remember.

> my promise to you
You won't find anyone who works harder than me at creating custom designs specific to your needs. I take enormous pride in my work and have a reputation as someone with a keen eye for detail and a drive for perfection. No one puts more thought and effort into their work. No one. Every line, every color, every letter is meticulously selected for the perfect effect.
Below is an example of the level of thought I put into everything I do. It is a logo I created for The Monocacy Valley Athletic League, the governing body for high school sports in Washington, Frederick and Carroll counties. This is the exact file I sent the client. (Please note that logo design traditionally begins in black and white so the focus is on the design. To see the logo in color, please go to my Logos page.)
