Poster Design

These posters were designed for my extreme sports loving niece and my Star Wars loving nephew for Christmas last year.

For my niece's poster, I created a silhouette of a snowboarder, then created the background mountains, radiant and flourishes in Adobe Illustrator. In my nephew's poster, I cut out a hi-res image of Darth Vader, then dropped it on top of images of volcanic eruptions that I abstracted in Adobe Photoshop. (Click to enlarge)
This work was commissioned by a gentleman whose wife, of Slovakian descent, was taking an interest in hockey. The players are among the top from that country, and the center player, Zdeno Chara, is her favorite. (Click to enlarge)

Cartooning

The Valley Grill wanted a mascot for the sports bar. The concept was a waitress in their traditional "referee" uniform. It took numerous preliminary sketches to create just the right look for her face and pose.




















Yvonne Gentzler, the author of "Best Practices for New Teachers," asked me to draw a cartoon for each of her chapter title pages. The book was black and white so I didn't get the chance to color it. This one was my favorite, since as a teacher, I have definitely experienced parents who too often believed everything their little angels told them.

Illustration

Every once in a while, I just want to design something for myself. If you haven't guessed from the name lunarBLUE, I have a love for astronomy. I decided to create a rendition of planet that was discovered last year.

Heraldry (Family Coat of Arms)

This is a custom heraldry I designed for my family. After painstakingly researching heraldry symbolism, I put together this coat of arms. Each individual aspect is representative of a family characteristic, including the colors.

Gymnasium

One the of works I am most proud of- the Middletown High School basketball court and gymnasium design (it included championship banners, sideline chairs, end pads and scorer's table). Few designers have the opportunity to work on a canvas of this magnitude.
